• Government Advocacy – For over 61 years, UCANE has been the voice of the underground water and sewer industry and lobbies on both the state and federal levels on behalf of this region’s critical clean water and drinking water issues. The Association continually tries to educate the Public and Elected Officials on the clean water needs for our State, the New England region and our Nation.
  • Education and Training – Reduced member rates for OSHA safety and construction related seminars, including trench excavation and confined space entry and asbestos pipe removal.
  • Networking – You will make contacts at our many dinner meetings, active committee meetings, and member events and build business relationships that will help expand your business.
  • Modest Dues – UCANE’s dues are very reasonable by comparison with other associations. Many of our members are 2nd and 3rd generation, proving that UCANE membership adds value to their business.

  • Free Monthly Publication – Stay abreast of all that is important in the underground utility construction industry with your free monthly subscription to the award winning Construction Outlook magazine. Our e-newsletter provides up-to-date construction related news with free advertising to members who advertise in our magazine.
  • Safety – UCANE is a “Safety First” Association. Safety Manuals are updated annually to include the latest OSHA regulations. Personalized with your company logo, these manuals are available exclusively to our members. Safety seminars are held periodically throughout the year.
  • Strength in Numbers – When Industry issues are being challenged and the “playing field” unbalanced, 250 member firms representing both union and open shop companies and their tens of thousands of workers speaking as “One Voice” through our Association gets results. Members are sometimes called upon to speak before legislative committees on construction issues.
  • Respect – UCANE takes great pride in the knowledge and expertise of its members, and is widely respected and recognized for its professionalism, fairness and ability to advocate for underground water and sewer contractors and associate companies.
  • College Scholarships – UCANE supports the children of our members and their employees by awarding ten $2,000 scholarships to college bound high school seniors each year. The scholarships are supported through an auction held in November with scholarships awarded in May.
  • Legal Representation – UCANE receives legal counsel and representation on industry issues from Hinckley Allen Snyder, LLP. Our Association’s goal is to provide an equal opportunity for all utility contractors to bid work.
  • Charitable Endeavors – UCANE is very philanthropic and supports a number of local charities, including the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Massachusetts…The Pan Mass Challenge…The Alzheimers Association..The American Diabetes Association and many other worthwhile causes.
